Summer is in full swing, and that applies to business and style too.
I remember my active days as an engineer in Santo Domingo, where the months of July and August were extremely hot. The heat influenced our travel, client visits and site inspections, as it added an extra note of heat. The most difficult challenge for me and my colleagues was juggling the temperatures of closed offices, vehicles and outdoor spaces.
Here are some tips to help you regulate your body temperature , because when we're too hot, we don't always make the best decisions, and sweating excessively can make us appear more stressed than we really are.
1. Consider the materials of your clothes:
Be aware of the materials of your clothing, as they make all the difference. The fabrics we wear play a vital role in regulating temperature. This is especially important when layering items such as shirts and jackets, or blouses and cardigans. The cumulative effect of the different layers can have an impact. The more natural the fabric, the more it allows your skin to breathe. Cotton, linen and silk are good options, as they promote breathability. However, in formal business situations, I recommend being careful with linen, as it can give a more casual and approachable look.
2. Create 2-in-1 outfits:
3. Explore practical styling options:
- To avoid wearing a tie, you can opt for an outfit with a jacket and an open shirt, all complemented by a pocket square.
- Standout dresses and blouses allow you to avoid layers of clothing and look fresher with ease.
- Have a jacket or cardigan in your vehicle or office, to use as needed, without necessarily incorporating it into your outfit first thing in the morning.
- Some people, like me, enjoy refreshing haircuts. It's also a great summer option to consider depending on your personal style.
Here are some practical tips for summer, to continue doing business fresh and to fully enjoy the beautiful views that come with it.
